What We Do (Scope of Services)

In short: We offer personalised, one-on-one online tutoring. Right now, it’s only individual lessons, but group sessions might come in future.

Learn Locus provides one-to-one online tutoring for students from middle school to through university level. Sessions are conducted using video platforms like Google Meet or Zoom. While all tutoring is currently one-on-one, we may offer group lessons later.

Welcome to the Learn Locus Terms & Conditions. This isn’t the most exciting thing you’ll read today, but it’s important. We’ve done our best to make it clear, honest, and (dare we say it?) readable. Each section starts with a short summary, so you can get the gist without getting lost. If anything’s still confusing, just drop us a line on admin@learnlocus.com.

Booking Sessions

In short: Most students have a regular weekly or twice-weekly spot. Extras are booked via Calendly. You can reschedule via email, Calendly, or just by messaging your tutor.

Recurring sessions are typically booked directly by email with your tutor. If you need an extra session, you can use their Calendly link to book it. Reschedules? Email, Calendly, or WhatsApp/text will do. We’re flexible, but keep in mind that availability isn’t always guaranteed.

Cancelling a Session

In short: Give us 24 hours’ notice. If you don’t, we might charge for the session. We’re not heartless though - we know life happens.

Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or move a session. If you cancel with less notice, we reserve the right to charge the full fee. That said, we’ll usually let it slide unless it becomes a habit.

Payment and Fees

In short: Invoices are due within 14 days. We may charge interest if you’re very late. Rates are fixed for two academic years. We’d rather not chase payments.

Payment is due 14 days after we send the invoice. Payment methods are listed on the invoice.

Fees vary depending on the tutor you’re working with. These are always agreed with you in advance and clearly shown on your invoice. Sessions are billed in 15-minute increments, with each started 15-minute interval charged in full. For example, a 22-minute session will be billed as 30 minutes. For new clients, the agreed rate will remain fixed for two academic years from the start of tutoring. If tutoring continues beyond this period, any updated rate will be discussed and agreed in advance. We reserve the right to review and adjust our fees from time to time, but we’ll always give you fair notice before any changes affect your sessions.

If we haven’t heard from you after the due date, we reserve the right to charge interest (1.5% per month, or the legal max if that’s lower). We might also pause lessons until everything’s squared away.

Student Responsibilities

In short: Show up, be prepared, have working tech, and treat everyone with respect.

We expect students to:

Be on time and ready to learn.
Have a working internet connection and camera.
Be in a quiet environment.
Be respectful and engaged.
Let us know if something needs to change.

We may pause or stop sessions if these expectations aren’t being met.

Who Are Our Tutors?

In short: Doug teaches most students. Other tutors work under the Learn Locus name, but they’re experienced and handpicked.

Tutors at Learn Locus are either Doug Poggioli or professionals he has personally vetted and coached. Aside from Doug, all tutors are independent contractors, but they operate under the Learn Locus brand and uphold the same standards.

Material and Copyright

In short: You can use the stuff we give you for your own learning, but please don’t post it or share it elsewhere.

Any materials shared during sessions (like worksheets or notes) are for personal use only. Don’t republish, resell or distribute them. If your tutor creates something helpful, they might reuse it with other students.

Limiting Our Liability

In short: We’ll always do our best, but we can’t promise perfect grades or zero tech issues.

We aim to provide great support, but we can’t guarantee exam results or academic outcomes. That said, Doug brings over 35 years of experience in both classroom and private tutoring, and has a strong track record of helping students improve their understanding, confidence and performance. We’re also not responsible for internet outages, technical issues, or anything else outside of our control.

Changing or Ending These Terms

In short: We might update these terms. If you keep using our services, you’re agreeing to the latest version. We can also end services if we need to.

We can update these Terms & Conditions at any time. If you keep using Learn Locus after changes are made, that counts as agreement. We may also suspend or stop services due to things like non-payment or repeated issues with scheduling or behavior.
